Overview
Kaori Quan is a 3rd year PhD student in French History. Her research focuses on the documentary of the French Revolutionary journée. In particular, she studies the methods used by legislative bodies to collect information on these urban insurrections and how this information was turned into state-sanctioned historical narratives. These narratives were a key aspect of democratic practice during the French Revolution, as they allowed representatives to correspond the actions of the people to their own motives, demonstrating the effects of storytelling and historicization on political processes.
