Tuesday and Thursday: 10:10-11:25

Professors Edward Baptist and Joseph Margulies

Jointly offered by the History and Government Departments, this course looks at the history and politics of impeachment in the United States. We will examine what the Founders might have considered impeachable behavior, how impeachment has been used at various times in U.S. history—from President Johnson in the 19th century to President Trump in the 21st—and ask what the future of impeachment might be in a deeply divided age.
